Blog spam

Is it just me or is the level of blog spam just ever-increasing.

At the moment, I look through the recent comments since I’ve paused the regular blogging of Squash and I’m getting two or three spam blog comments every day, something I’m sure was not nearly such a problem six months ago.

Yeah, blog spam has been increasing quite a bit. The number of spam comments I have on my blog is almost equal to the sum of the number of posts and non-spam comments. I guess BS is a good short-form for blog spam, since most of it is that anyway. 🙂

Lose weight now! Hoodia! Xanax! Viagra! Send some money to Nigeria!

Nah … no problems at all.

you could come over to my place made – I’ll show you blog spam. I’m getting hit with over 2 to 3 thousand a day! 🙂 Thank goodness for tools like akismet which stop 99% of them.

I’m surprised you’re only getting a few a day. We get 50 – 300 a day at APC (outweighing the number of real comments by many multiples). Thank goodness Akismet catches all of them.

To Percy- BS is a good way to describe it. That’s pretty funny.

    I’ve noticed that as well.

I’ve been getting ~150 a day, all of which are concentrated on one particular post. I’m not sure whether Michael Arrington’s conjured up the forces of the interweb in a bid to crush all dissent but, just to be on the safe side, I’ve made a mental note never to cross swords with Team TechCrunch ever again.

i thought we were getting spam posts? do you think they were spam comments? in any case, whatever they were they were too numerous to count and caused me to cut over to wordpress from blogger. and i’m talking about a bar association blog, so the recipients were kind of stuffed-shirts about it anyway. not a good scene. i’ve never hated spam so much in my life.

Dan, being on WordPress.com, I have Akismet working away so I’m actually referring to the stuff that gets through that. Nothing used to get through three months ago, but its a relatively steady flow now, which I’m assuming is an indication of either an overall increase or blog spam getting smarter.

Ive noticed pages with high pagerank tend to get more blog spam. Its kind of a side effect of a popular blog.

  10. I was getting about 50 a day. As my software is handmade (was a fun project) we made a couple of little mods and we now get none.

Mine has been getting hit especially hard over the last couple of weeks for some reason. Not sure what is going on. I guess the bright side is that I use MT-Blacklist, so it’s just allowing me to add more things for it to block downstream..? Good luck.. it’s a never-ending battle!

He swallowed, eyes still closed, as she wrapped her hand around his slippery, wet shaft. Salin told me that he was awake, but hes not come out of his suite. Stay where you are. Thought perhaps Brevin would drop his pants and let Lanthan fuck him. His were smiling down at her, pride brimming in the swirling red and black. He came up beside her, extinguishing the magelight. If youre tired, perhaps we should rearrange for another time with Hyle and Gala. Hyle blinked up at her. Fake sunlight poured through the open balcony doors from the garden beyond. Apologizing to her parents had been easier. Her lip curled, and she shoved at his chest. Radin dissolved the spell before it could take form. What do you say, Eyrie? Gods damn it, someone fuck me already. It sparked the flame, and she dropped to scream into the mattress. She shivered at the feel of liquid warmth oozing out of her. Without my presence, would Eyrhaen have been such a danger? Again, she easily pictured it. I wouldnt want to deny you. She twisted her grip as she slid her fist from root to tip.
